One of the worst problems a homeowner can face is a badly clogged drain. We are plumbing repair specialists in the Twin Cities, and we have seen more than our fair share of clogged drains. So what are a few things you can try before calling on us for plumbing repair?
Moderately Clogged Drains
For a drain that is moderately clogged, try pouring a half cup of baking soda down the drain and then immediately pour a half cup of vinegar down after it. Replace the drain cover but don’t tighten it completely. Allow the baking soda and vinegar mix to sit for approximately three hours and then run some water into it and rinse the baking soda and vinegar away.
Drains Clogged by Grease
Grease can be tricky to clear out of drains, so sometimes calling on us for plumbing repair will be necessary in these situations. However, you can try pouring in a half cup of salt and a half cup of baking soda. Then immediately pour boiling water on top of it. Allow it to sit overnight before rinsing the mix away.
Drain Maintenance
If you want to keep your drains free of clogs and odors, you can try this trick. Combine one cup of baking soda, one cup of table salt and a quarter cup of cream of tartar. Stir them together and pour them into a clean jar. Pour about ¼ of the mix into the drain. Immediately pour in 1 cup of boiling water. Then wait ten seconds and flush with cold water.
If these tricks don’t work, it’s time to call on us for plumbing repair. We can come to your home as soon as possible to unclog your drains.
